Forest Therapy, also known as Forest Bathing
This practice was inspired by Shinrin Yoku (Forest Bathing) in Japan where it is part of their health care system. It was also inspired by the cultures who have practiced this connection with nature for health and healing throughout the world.
The health benefits are substantive and documented by many studies in Japan, the United States, and other countries. You can find a complete list of the benefits of forest bathing here.
This is a practice of developing a meaningful relationship with nature that deepens over time and through the cycles of the seasons.
Many of us are caught in technology driven and stressful lives, but by reconnecting with ourselves and our surroundings, we can feel rejuvenated.
When we reconnect with our surroundings, through our senses, it can feel like “coming home” to ourselves and our beautiful world.
The Association of Nature and Forest Therapy has trained over 1100 guides in 55 countries.
